Volcanoes!

Mount Fuji is located on Honshu Island and is the highest mountain in Japan at 12, 389 feet.  It is an active volcano that last erupted in 1707.  The kids were so fascinated by Mt. Fuji, so we had to experiment by making our own volcanoes. They has so much fun!

Parents... you can make these with your child at home.  Here is what you will need...  2 small paper cups (one with a hole, one without), baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, a long strip of tape, and a lid or plate to set the volcano on when it starts to overflow. Fill the bottom of one paper cup (the one without the hole) with baking soda.  Set it on the lid or plate.  Put 4 to 6 drops of food coloring on top of the baking soda.  Place the second cup (the one with the hole) upside down over the paper cup filled with the baking soda.  Tape the 2 cups together tightly.  Pour vinegar into the hole until the volcano begins to erupt
